When you purchase a software license from Gumbo Software Inc. the first year of maintenance services is included. When maintenance services are about to expire, you will receive a notice and the opportunity to renew them. This page describes maintenance services.

The following summarizes maintenance services.

• A covered license is entitled to all new releases, which ship automatically.
• A covered license is entitled to all PTFs, which are available on the web.
• While a license is covered, and the release is reasonably current, we will attempt to correct software defects that you report to us.
• A covered license is entitled to a new permanent authorization code subject to our Upgrade Policy.
• While a license is covered, we will provide technical support.
• You will receive a notice when coverage is about to expire but are not required to renew.

Gumbo Software Inc. may from time to time create new releases of our licensed program products to correct defects or add enhancements. While a software license is covered by maintenance services, you are entitled to all such new releases. The new releases are shipped automatically, no action on your part is required to receive them.

Gumbo Software Inc. may from time to time correct defects in our licensed program products. These corrections are packaged as Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs). While a software license is covered by maintenance services, you are entitled to all such PTFs. PTFs are not shipped automatically, You can retrieve them from the PTFs page.

While a software license is covered by maintenance services, and while you are running a reasonably current release of our software, you are entitled to report software defects found in our licensed program products to us. Gumbo Software Inc. will attempt to correct reported defects and if successful will create a Program Temporary Fix (PTF) containing the correction.

Reasonably current release of our software usually means that the underlying IBM^® i release, to which our release is targeted, is still supported by IBM^®.

When you purchase a software license from Gumbo Software Inc., you receive a permanent authorization code that allows the software to run on the licensed System i.

For a system wide license, the permanent authorization code is specific to your System i serial number and processor group. You will need a new permanent authorization code when transferring a license to a new System i serial number and may need a new permanent authorization code when upgrading the same System i to a new processor group.

For a partition only license, the permanent authorization code is specific to your System i serial number, partition number, and maximum processor capacity. You will need a new permanent authorization code when transferring a license to a new System i serial number. You also will need a new permanent authorization code when transferring a license to a different partition number within the same System i or when increasing maximum processor capacity of the licensed partition number.

See our Upgrade Policy for complete details on when a new permanent authorization code is needed. While a software license from Gumbo Software Inc. is covered by maintenance services, a new permanent authorization code is a "no charge" item subject to the terms of our Upgrade Policy.

While a software license from Gumbo Software Inc. is covered by maintenance services, we will provide technical support to assist you in implementing the product in your environment. We will also provide technical support to assist you in problem determination and correction if, after following the instructions in the Problem Determination or Trouble Shooting chapter of the product's manual, you are unable to resolve the problem yourself. Technical support is available by email or by phone.

When maintenance services are about to expire for a software license, you will receive a notice and the opportunity to renew them. Renewal is not mandatory.
